Short answer: FigJam is a great whiteboard, and if your team already works in Figma it is the cheapest sensible choice: US$3 a seat a month billed yearly, a free plan to start on, strong diagramming and Figma behind it. It was built for product and design teams, though, and it shows when the board is a moodboard or a treatment: there is no real presentation mode, a video you play is only playing for you, and large images get downscaled. Draftt is made for directors and production companies, with decks, video, a web clipper and a catalog of credited frames in the same place, and it costs more per seat.
This page is written by Draftt, so read it knowing that. We have tried to say where FigJam is better, and every price links to its source.
Pick FigJam if
- Your team already lives in Figma. FigJam comes with a Collab seat, next to your designers and their files.
- Price per seat matters most: US$3 a month billed yearly on Figma's Professional plan, against Draftt's US$12.
- You want to start free. Figma's Starter plan gives you 3 FigJam files in the team project, unlimited drafts and unlimited viewers.
- The board is a flowchart, a user journey or a brainstorm. FigJam's diagramming, and its AI for it, is far better than Draftt's.
- You need to edit from your phone. The Figma app on iOS and Android edits FigJam boards, with limits. Draftt is web only.
Pick Draftt if
- Your board turns into a treatment or a pitch. Draftt has decks in the same place, with present mode, a public link, PDF export and Canva import.
- You put video on the board. Videos up to 100 MB play inline, and you can grab frames from them onto the board.
- You collect references all day: a Chrome clipper for images and videos, and Pinterest and Mobbin inside the board on paid plans.
- You look for references in commercials, music videos and films, with credits: director, cinematographer, production company, agency.

What FigJam does well
FigJam is one of the best whiteboards around for what it was made for. Getting ideas down on stickies and connecting them into a diagram is quick, and its AI can draft a diagram or a template from a prompt, sort a wall of stickies into groups and summarize them. If your work already happens in Figma, FigJam sits next to your files, with the same people.
It is also cheap. A team of five pays US$15 a month on Professional billed yearly, and the Collab seat includes Figma Slides, Buzz and Specs too. And Figma is a large public company that is not going anywhere.
The complaints from creative teams are specific. Images over 4096 px are downscaled, and Figma's help warns that "some file metadata may be lost"; people on the Figma forum say full page screenshots in their moodboards come out blurry. Pasted images get a white border by default, which a forum feature request asks to turn off. Requests for a true presentation mode keep coming back. Some users say the canvas is "not truly infinite", and a uxdesign.cc piece called "Another year, another Figma pricing update" sums up how often its plans change.
Where Draftt is different
The board and the presentation are one place. In FigJam you present by leading people with Spotlight, or by converting the board into a Figma Slides deck with AI. In Draftt a deck lives next to your boards: slides with text, images, shapes, charts and video, that you present, share by link or download as PDF. If the treatment started in Canva, you import it as an editable deck.
Video is something to watch. Figma's help says that in FigJam "the video is only playing for you, and others will not see or hear it". In Draftt, videos up to 100 MB play on the board, you can pull frames from them as images, and a video in a deck plays for whoever watches the presentation or its public link.
References come in from everywhere. We found no official web clipper or Canva integration for FigJam, and Pinterest takes a paid third party plugin. Draftt has a Chrome clipper, Pinterest and Mobbin in the references panel, Canva import, and Explore, a hand-picked catalog of frames from published commercials, music videos and films, each credited to the people who made it. Everything you save is indexed, so you can search it by what is in the image, by color or for lookalikes.
AI for references, not diagrams. Figma's MCP server can write FigJam diagrams and is built for developers. Draftt's lets Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Gemini search your library and the catalog and build boards, decks and docs with you.
Where Draftt falls short
- It costs more. US$12 a seat billed yearly against FigJam's US$3 is four times the price, and that adds up for a big team.
- There is no open free plan right now. New accounts start with a 7 day free trial of Pro; people invited to someone's board or team use Draftt free.
- No diagramming or workshop tools: no flowcharts, timers or voting. No AI inside the app to summarize, and no AI image generation.
- No apps in the stores and no offline mode.
- Draftt is young, made by a small team, with fewer integrations than Figma, and its catalog is smaller than dedicated reference libraries.
If your team already pays for Figma
A practical split: product and UI work, and the brainstorms around it, stay in Figma and FigJam, where the designers are. The moodboards, treatments and pitch decks for a commercial or a music video go in Draftt, with the director, the producer and the client on the same board. Viewers and guests are free seats, so you pay only for whoever builds the boards.
FAQ
Is Draftt a FigJam alternative?
For visual creative work, yes. Both are shared canvases for images, notes and links. FigJam is better for diagrams and brainstorming; Draftt is made for moodboards, treatments and decks in film and advertising.
Does FigJam have a presentation mode?
Not a true one. You can lead people around a board with Spotlight, or convert it into a Figma Slides deck with AI. Draftt has decks with a present mode built in.
Can other people see a video in FigJam?
You can place MP4 and MOV files, but Figma's help says the video "is only playing for you, and others will not see or hear it". In Draftt, videos up to 100 MB play on the board, and videos in decks play for whoever watches.
Why do my images look blurry in FigJam?
FigJam downscales images larger than 4096 px, so long screenshots and big stills can lose detail. Figma explains it in its help article on images.
Is Draftt cheaper than FigJam?
No. FigJam's Collab seat is US$3 to US$5 a month billed yearly; Draftt is US$8 a month for one person on Pro and US$12 a seat on Team, both billed yearly. FigJam also has a free plan, and Draftt only a 7 day trial for now.
