Short answer: Frame Set (frameset.app) and Draftt are the two closest products in this space: both are curated catalogs of frames from commercials, music videos and films, with credits, and both take submissions. Frame Set is the deeper search tool, with hundreds of thousands of frames, motion clips, camera and lens data, many technical filters and a free tier. Draftt's catalog is younger and much smaller, but it is one part of a full workspace: a free-form canvas, your own library saved from any website, decks, and AI assistants that work on your boards. If you mainly search for references, Frame Set is the stronger choice; if you want to search, collect and build the treatment in one place, look at Draftt.
This page is written by Draftt, so read it knowing that. Frame Set is the product most like ours, and we have tried to be fair about where it is ahead. Every price links to its source.
Pick Frame Set if
- Search is the main job. Frame Set has hundreds of thousands of frames and adds new titles every week; Draftt's catalog is a fraction of that.
- You search by technical detail: shot type, time of day, lighting, lens type, camera and lens. Draftt has no camera or lens data.
- Motion matters. Frame Set's Motions are moving clips with a link to the full video, and they play inside its treatments while you present.
- You want to start free. Frame Set's free plan includes search, Sets and Treatments, no card required.
- Your team co-edits treatments live, and collaborators who don't pay should still be able to work on them.
Pick Draftt if
- Your references come from everywhere. Draftt's web clipper saves images and videos from any page, and every image you save is searchable by what is in it, by color or by lookalike.
- You need a canvas, not only slides: moodboards, storyboards, shot lists and pre-production on boards.
- Your deck lives in Canva. Draftt imports a Canva design as an editable deck and exports decks to PDF.
- You work with Claude or ChatGPT. Through MCP they can search your library and the catalog and build boards and decks with you.
- You or your team work in Spanish, or you pay for yourself: Draftt Pro is US$12 a month against Frame Set Pro's US$15.99.

What Frame Set does well
Frame Set was built by Caleb Farmer and launched publicly in February 2023 after about a year and a half in beta, with production companies like Prettybird and Biscuit among its early users (PetaPixel covered the launch). It is made by people who know how commercial directors and DPs look for references.
Search is its best part. You describe a frame in a full sentence, find similar ones, upload your own image, tune a color's saturation, temperature and contrast, and narrow by lighting, lens type, camera and lens. For a DP chasing a specific lighting setup on a specific lens, that is hard to match, and Draftt does not try to today.
Treatments keep the presentation next to the search: templates, motions that play while you present, live co-editing with editor and viewer roles, and collaborators who don't need to pay. Testimonials on its site call it "fast, clear, agile". We looked for independent complaints and did not find any to report.
Where Draftt is different
The catalog is one part of the workspace. In Draftt, Explore sits next to your boards, your library and your decks. A frame you find goes to your library or straight onto a board, next to your notes, location photos, files and a weather block for the shoot day.
A canvas for more than slides. Draftt boards are laid out freely, with sub-boards and docs inside, and there are templates for moodboards, storyboards, shot lists, scouting and lookbooks. Videos up to 100 MB play on the board, and you can grab frames from them.
Your own library, searchable. Most references come from outside any catalog. The Chrome clipper saves images and videos from any page, several at once, into your library or your team's. Each image is indexed, so you can type "red car in the desert at dusk", pick a color, or ask for images like one you have.
Canva and AI assistants. A Canva treatment imports as an editable deck. Through MCP, Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Gemini can search your library and the catalog and build boards, decks and docs with you.
Spanish, and a lower price. The app is in English and Spanish, and Pro costs US$12 a month, or US$8 a month billed yearly.
Where Draftt falls short
- The catalog is much smaller and younger. Draftt's is curated by hand and grows every week, but it is not close to Frame Set's.
- No camera or lens data, and far fewer technical filters.
- Motion is a smaller part of Draftt: some frames have short loops, while Frame Set has a whole Motions library.
- No open free plan right now. New accounts start with a 7 day free trial of Pro; people invited to someone's board or team use Draftt free.
- Billed monthly, a Draftt Team seat (US$18) costs more than a Frame Set Pro member (US$15.99).
- No apps in the stores yet: Draftt is a web app.
Using Frame Set and Draftt together
Many people will want both: Frame Set for deep searches by lens, light and shot type, Draftt for the board and the deck. Draftt's clipper works on any page, so references you find elsewhere land in your Draftt library, searchable by content and color next to everything else you saved, ready to drag onto a board or into a deck.
